N.E.R.D’s ‘No One Ever Really Dies’: A Review

Similar to Jazz Music of the past, which was often criticized for it’s unpredictable composition and perceived lack of classical musical structure, this album can come across frenetic and disjointed. For me, this is exactly why there is almost a hidden genius behind the boards.

JAY-Z '4:44' Drops

Highly-anticipated and long overdue, we have the 13th studio album from the man, the myth, the mogul himself: JAY-Z. Amidst business deals with Sprint, name re-hyfenations and the ongoing silence of frequent collaborator and recent beef-instigator Kanye West, the roll-out of this album commenced. Esoteric, mysterious and cryptic are all words I've seen/used to describe the announcement of JAY-Z's 13th studio album.

T-Pain x Lil Wayne: TWayne

Well, here it is: the "highly anticipated" release of the collaborative album by home state hero (Florida) T-Pain and Louisiana's own Lil Wayne entitled "TWayne". Apparently this collab has been teased since my haydays, 2009 to be exact, but at the time, I was more concerned with size charts, fitting rooms and color coded closets (I used to manage retail at 12+ hour days, so forgive me).

Kendrick Lamar Lyrical Controversy

There I was, working from home like I usually do when I got the typical every-15-minutes email refresh. Most days the notifications are filled with Living Social Deals or Air Fare Watchdog Fares (I told you I'm a frugal dreamer), but this time there was something different. It was *gasp* my first booking request!

Missy says "I'm Better" with New Track and Video

If you know me at all, then you know how much I love Missy! I will never forget the first time I heard her, the first time I bumped her in my car, and how much I've marveled at her creativity, talent and ability to transform in front of our eyes.

Kid Cudi Defines Introspection On "Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin'"

The long awaited drop of Kid Cudi's new album, "Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin'" is finally here. I won't go into the details of his recent headlines: you guys have Google. What I will say is that I didn't expect this album to hit me so hard.

J. Cole teases new album '4 Your Eyez Only'

I am a big J. Cole fan.  I don't remember exactly when I latched on, but it was enough for me to go to the Forest Hills Drive concert alone.  Last night, shortly after midnight, Tidal notified it's subscribers of a near 40 minute documentary (appropriately titled "Eyez") featuring behind-the-scenes footage of J. Cole in the process of creating this album, due on December 9.  Christmas came a little bit early for his fans, because in the midst of the documentary, we were treated to two tracks that are likely to be on this new project.

Childish Gambino: Awaken, My Love

And perhaps I am a few days late (according to Genius.com, the song premiered November 10 on Beats 1 Radio with Zane Lowe), but Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover, dropped what may be my favorite track of 2016. Entitled "Me and Your Mama", Childish perfectly melds a psychedelic mantra with rock vibes to pine after his lover.

A Tribe Called Quest: We Got It From Here...Thank You 4 Your Service

It's finally here. Their sixth and final album We Got It From Here...Thank You 4 Your Service A Tribe Called Quest has jam-packed this album with nostalgia inducing sounds.  With features from almost everyone I care about, André 3000, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Talib Kweli and Busta Rhymes to name a few, the album stays true to ATCQ's ability to blend thoughtful and "deep" lyrics with hypnotic and colorful rhythms.  I think I need some time to take this one in. Split into Voulme 1 and 2, Phife Dawg also makes his contribution on the album, may he rest in peace.
