6 Stylists, 1 Winner: "Battle of the Sexes": Indie Fashion Week Kick-Off
Indie Fashion Week, DC kicked of this Monday with #ModelMondayz, "Battle of the Sexes", a networking social and styling competition at Exhale Lounge and Bar in the District. Sponsored by Mountain Dew Black Label, I was ecstatic to be invited to judge the competition as part of the Style Committee. Upon my arrival at the dual-level comfy and classy space, models were being dressed and prepped for what I'd like to deem a stylish free-for-all! Creative silhouettes and layering dominated the competition which had a theme of Contemporary Vintage.
These stylists were primarily working with THE MOXY LOUNGE [www.moxylounge.com] -A membership based vintage collective which boasts 1000+ curated vintage pieces. While stylist were encouraged to incorporate pieces from The Moxy Lounge, some of the highlights added personal one-of-kind pieces to accentuate their individual style.

The Style Panel deliberated, and while it wasn't exactly unanimous, there was quite a debate until the winner was decided. Unfortunately, there could only be 1 winner, and the award went to Alise Curtis of Kreator Styles who effortlessly combined paisley tapestry, plaid and not too bulky layering to create a look that was creative yet approachable. Her use of pieces from Moxy Lounge as well as handmade details and unique accessories pushed her to the top of the pack. Congratulations to Alise and Kreator Styles.
Special thank you to Terrance and Harley of Roe The Agency for the invitation: it was a great time!
