The D'USSÉ Day Party Hits the DMV

That D'USSÉ is the sh!+, if I D'USSÉ so myself/If I D'USSÉ so myself, if I D'USSÉ so myself-JAY Z

I was thrilled to attend the exclusive day party hosted by D'USSÉ Cognac in DC, and it was a movie. Held at the Big Chief in NE and powered by Roc Nation, it was a sophisticated yet relaxed setting filled with DC's most hip Urban Millennial crowd. Close to the old Dream/Love Nightclub, the New Orleans-styled speakeasy is tucked away in a newly gentrified area of The District.

I have learned over the years that, based on my metabolism and food sensitivities, brown liquor (that brown juice) is best for me. Let's just say that celiac.com is my friend. Did you know that all wine based spirits and the majority distilled liquors are celiac friendly? It took me years to, first, uncover my intolerances and then to augment my diet. Wicked hangover? Maybe you have an intolerance to gluten or brewer's yeast like I do! So happy I finally figured it out-you should, too.

In 2012, none-other than rapper and all-around Renaissance Man JAY Z partnered with Bacardi to launch D'USSÉ Cognac. With everyone including Beyoncé (obvi) Wale, Lil Wayne and J. Cole making their own references, it is safe to say that D'USSÉ is nipping on Hennessy's heels in terms of name recognition.

Cognac is a wine-based spirit made from white grapes solely grown in one of 6 approved growing regions in France. Doubly distilled and aged for at least 2 years in French Oak Casks (XO or VSOP), cognac creation is nothing less than a craft. Curated by Cellar Master Michel Casavecchia , D'USSÉ Cognac has achieved its goal of being "distinctively bold, yet remarkably smooth." More about D'USSÉ at www.dusse.com.

The "Lemonade" cocktail (and not the album) was my first taster, and it went down deliciously. I then chose to have it on the rocks, as I usually prefer and was so happy I did. It was sweet and smooth enough for the less adventurous drinker but gives the right amount of punch for the cognac/bourbon/whiskey purist. Spicy and woody in the front, D'USSÉ has a fresh and delicate finish.

The music and the decor were also very much on point. Hashtag, ambiance! Shoutout to host Rel Carter of Roc Nation for extending the invitation. The day party was also hosted by international DJ, producer and song writer Jae Murphy and DJ and brand ambassador Brenda n Hill . I suggest you keep these guys on your radar and look out for any of their upcoming events: you won't regret it!

My vote: drink D'USSÉ, responsibly.
